HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M PREGNANT?

The first indication is usually a missed period.  A positive home pregnancy test can also indicate pregnancy.  Presumptive symptoms, though not definitive, may include the following:

  • Breast tenderness

  • Nausea/vomiting

  • Frequent urination

  • Bloating

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Appetite change

To confirm your pregnancy, and appointment for a free lab-grade urine pregnancy test should be scheduled.

When does the heart start beating? Will I hear it during my ultrasound?

The heart begins beating at three weeks gestation.  You may see and/or hear cardiac activity from week 6 of pregnancy or later.

I'm under 18.  Will you tell my parents?

All services are treated with the utmost confidentiality.  The PRC will not give any information to your parents without your consent except in mandatory reporting situations as defined by Arizona law.  Your parents’ presence at or consent for a consult is not required. This meeting is treated with the utmost confidentiality. Information will not be provided to your parents. If you have questions about these guidelines, contact us.  

HOW MUCH WILL AN ABORTION COST?

The cost of an abortion procedure varies depending on your gestational age.  Pricing can range on average from $650 to $2500. Pre-abortion counseling must be scheduled to verify the viability of your pregnancy and find out how far along you are.*  

HOW FAR ALONG CAN I BE AND STILL GET AN ABORTION?

Does AN ABORTION HURT?

As with any procedure, women respond differently.  The experiences of women who have undergone medical and surgical abortions vary dramatically. A medical abortion is usually accompanied by significant cramping and bleeding.  During a surgical abortion, women can experience substantial discomfort and report detailed memories of the procedure.  To discuss procedures and risks in more detail, Click here.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Possible risks may include infection, bleeding, perforation of the cervix and/or uterus, increased risk of infertility, and PID (in the case of an undiagnosed STI). Some women experience a negative emotional response characterized by depression, insomnia, nightmares, flashbacks, an increase in drug and alcohol abuse, and thoughts of suicide. If you are post-abortive and experiencing any of these emotional symptoms, contact us for help.
